31 Days of Brave Hearts | Day 5, Allison

She is devoted and kind and always comes to the table with curious questions.  She is a voice for those who don’t have one at times.  She is a spark.  Meet Allison.

Where is your happy place?  On the beach in Maine.  I love the water, especially the ocean.  The view and the sound of waves hitting a mostly empty beach (because it’s Maine!), is one of my most favorite memories of traveling.  It’s calming and reassuring.  The waves will ALWAYS come in and meet the shore.

What do you love most about yourself?  I love that I am loyal.  Once I’ve accepted someone or something into my inner circle I am loyal to a fault.  I will defend you, do anything for you, help you, whatever it is you may need.  I feel that way about my husband, my family, my friends.

What is your most cherished thing?  My grandmother made a blanket for me when I was born.  It was Christmas themed, red blanket with teddy bears on it, which was fitting since I was born on Christmas.  My grandmother died when I was in second grade and this was the only thing I had that reminded me of her.  I slept with the blanket every night and it began falling apart six years ago.  I gave it to my mother to fix and she incorporated a piece of it into a quilt that she made me as a gift right before my wedding.  I sleep with this quilt every night.  Knowing that that small piece of blanket is still surrounding me helps me keep my memory of my grandmother close to me.

What are you scared of?  Failing.  In all things and in all ways.

What are the tools of your trade?  Separation.  You have to be able to separate and compartmentalize the work.  Otherwise, you feel too much and are not effective.  You have to learn to feel, but then separate yourself.
