Describe your brave heart outfit. Red lipstick.

What book has shaped you? Beloved by Toni Morrison.

What was the best trip ever? Thailand.

What/where is your happy place? A morning walk on my farm with my dog.

Who do you secretly want to be? These days my local role models include Judi Jennings, Mari Mujica, and Pastor Anthony Everett.

How has this work changed you? I am better at sitting in the spaces of contradiction and embracing shades of grey.

What’s the best advice you were given about this work? “Do something every day that scares you.” That’s actually an Eleanor Roosevelt quote (so not so much personal advice, ha!). But, I carry that quote with me every day as I step up to challenges that seem big and daunting and require me to tap in to some courage.

What’s in your office? Your car? A playlist featuring lots of Bonnie Raitt, Alison Krauss, Neko Case, and Shakira.

What is your shelter/refuge? My best friends.

What are the tools of your trade? Listening, envisioning, and getting stuff done.

What did you study? Political Science and Social Work.

What is one outrageous thing you’d love to own? A horse.

What gives you courage? Those who came before me.

What is your most cherished thing? A set of china from my grandmother.

What do you want the world to know about your work? When women are making decisions about their health and pregnancy, they can be trusted to have their best interest in mind as well as that of their families. I think we all play a role in making sure people have access to the services they need to live their best lives.
